EXHIBITIONS Kenthurst Galleries, Line of Way Series
22.07.06 to 13.08.06
My current work is informed by the urban landscape of the Port Phillip Bay area (Melbourne) where I have lived for over a decade.
For me this urban environment is defined by the rhythm of the Socio Economic and the Political.
Working with perceived visual equivalents, I employ the vibrato of juxtaposed spectral colours, which are chromatically bright but work in contradiction to the subtle nuance of tonal relationships.
By transposing, synthesising and extricating the urban motif from conventional depiction of actual local colour, I proceed to free the work from the spell of the motif.
The textural brush marks involved in articulating the surface create an inherent counter balance to the picture’s flattened compositional structure.
