Angels
Angels have always been present in the imagination of man. Angels were also very familiar figures used in painting and works of art during the Renaissance.
Angel symbolism provides comfort and promotes the search for wisdom and understanding. Something that we sorely need during our recent trying times.
The Centaur is placed in the centre as a connective figure between human and nature, between the opener of locks and liberation. The dogs in the foreground introduce protection, loyalty, guidance and love.
When I painted this work in 2019, these were essential ‘nutrients’ for our well-being. They are even more potent and relevant today as we fight the pandemic.
