Knowledge of place through the acknowledgment of local history and personal experience ultimately triggers the ‘spirit of place’.
I invite the viewer to visually move around the edges and engage with abstraction, fragmentation and perspective strategies.
The negative spaces have been ‘attacked’ and scraped off with an electric sander, creating texture and revealing the underlying structural drawing.
The ambiguity between negative dull spaces, bold hues and defined shapes creates an urban rhythm that transforms into a new visual cohesion.
