Still life with flowers
Celebrating the beauty of flora and, at the same time, exemplifying the concept of Ars Longa Vita Brevis (skilfulness takes time and life is short) is embodied in this work.
Inspired by the eucalyptus leaves and branches, I have arranged in a shapely vase on my kitchen table—a starting point. The aroma emanating from these branches reminded me of being in the forest, inhaling the fresh air. However, over some time, this painting has evolved in an entirely different direction. The collage technique allowed me to portray a variety of textures and patterns. The essence of joy that was felt was captured through a visual dramatic climax communicated through the beauty of colour.
