'Magic Carpet' was inspired by the location in front of St Kilda Town Hall, Carlisle Street. You can see a glimpse of the building at the top of the painting.
This work was part of my solo exhibition "Footpath Traffic" at The Gallery, St.Kilda Townhall 2010.
Through the sensation of colour, I aim to alter the perception of our urban environment and invite the viewer to rediscover the familiar in the 'Everyday'.
Symbolically, the Magic Carpet's title is associated with a form of transport and can quickly or instantaneously carry its users to their destination.
We are continually building and adding to the direction that we want to take our lives.
What is our destination?
