The motif of umbrellas in my paintings is like tall sprouting plants nourished by the constant urban footpath traffic. As if the umbrellas are calling us to sit and relax and be nurtured by the local offerings. An environment that is most familiar to most of us where we contemplate our relationship not just with each other but also with that environment. I’m inspired by the urban environment where I live. It’s the knowledge of place through the acknowledgment of local history and personal experience which underly the spirit a revelation about our common urban experience.
