Urbanscape - South Melbourne
The location of the bridge in this painting is a view from Market St. and City Rd. South Melbourne. I was inspired by the geometric shapes in the foreground.
How to capture a moving tram on a bridge? It took a few goes as I was considering the schedule for each tram. I found the relationship between the foreground and the background fascinating in its geometric richness and man-made constructed lines.
This little bit of nature grew above the red brick wall and around the electricity pole in one corner. A lone figure in the mid-ground provided a sense of scale within this composition. The colours Red, yellow and green stood out as if in celebration amongst the surrounding urban grey.
