I am inviting you to view this painting as part of a chorus of colour and a crescendo of clashing hues.
Colour is an important source of expression in my work. It plays a vital role in our lives and how we respond to our surroundings. I have formed a deep relationship with the place where I have lived for three decades. I feel colourfully and artistically attached to this place (Middle Park, Victoria), which provides me with so much inspiration and a profound connection to Place. “The craving for colour is a natural necessity, just as for water and fire. Colour is a raw material indispensable to life. At every era of his existence and his history, the human being has associated colour with his joy, his actions and his pleasures”.
- Fernand Leger, “On monumentality and colour” 1943
