This drawing was inspired by Velazquez's painting Rokeby Venus (1647-51) where Venus is depicted as a goddess of love and the personification of female beauty.

This work was created in 1986. Shapes fragmented into geometric forms and reassembled within soft and seductive folds. Organic shapes are realigned and crafted as an ancient monument that is reflected back to the viewer.

I wanted to convey the feeling of being grounded and connected. Stones are strong, versatile and enduring. Stones that are beyond just being a construction material and convey the qualities of belonging. The placement of the TV brings us back to present times and leisurely times in the now.
