Middle Park Urbanscape
Between the local and the table, the footpath in Melbourne has become a dominant economic ‘territory’, a sphere of consumption and entertainment.
Over the years of living in Middle Park, I keep returning to this corner for inspiration.
Walking distance to our local shopping village, a place where the cafe culture is alive and strong.
It is a meeting place that is almost an extension of the home.
In this painting, I was interested in the ambiguity of place. A relationship was formed between saturated colours and soft glazing techniques.
The bold colours pack a visual punch, while muted tones give out a soothing and relaxing perception.
