Urban Landscape
In this painting, I investigate the notion that nature is all around the city, even in our homes. The division between nature and the urban arena is illuminated.
When I think of nature, I often think of places untouched by humans. Nature could be considered something that exists far away from our urban environment.
I was interested in expanding the focus of an imagined nature by drawing attention to our potential urban greening.
Through the use of collage, the imagination has asserted itself in a totally open-ended investigative process. Images and their contexts have been reassembled within an ambiguous framework. Perspective rules were dismissed, making the familiar evocative.
